Orthodontics


Question: What is orthodontics?
Answer: Orthodonty  word comes from two seperate greek words; first one is ‘’ortos’’ ,meaning orderly, second word is ‘’dontos’’ meaning the teeth.

Question: What is the purpose of orthodontics?
Answer: The main purpose of orthodontics is to have an ideal openning and closing of the teeth by keeping the profile balance, establishing consistency  between the chins when keeping the overall concert to the head all together.

Question: Can we have orthodontic treatment in any age?
Answer: Yes, we can. It is widely known by the public that Orthodontics is  only applicable to the children which is wrong.    it is possible to replace teeth  in any age.  Meaning, at the same time your 8 year old daughter and you as a parent can have your teeth gaps closed by the Orthodontics treatment.  To be clear, there is absolutely no upper age limit for orthodontics treatment and it can be donein any age.

Question: Am I going to feel any pain or sensitivity during the  orthodontics treatment?
Answer: Within the first couple of days after braces attached, inner surface of the cheeks and lips may get lightly  irritated and  possibly feel pain during chewing .  It does not matter what type of complains  you have because of your new braces, in about 5-7 days you will not feel  that you have braces in your mouth.

Question: My doctor told me that I must start Orthodontics Treatment A.S.A.P.,  what will happen if I did not start orthodontics treatment ?
Answer: Inconsistency between our teeth will get worst in time.  Meaning, in the long-run you will not feel better  about their look and you will feel so uncomfortable.If you do not have a proper closing, your chin joints will be forced more than usual and in the future you may experience serious problems with your chin like chin locking.

Question: What type of braces do you have?
Answer: There are 2 type of braces available; metal braces and porclain braces.  Stable apparatus’s attached to tooth by specially bonding glue’s and taken out by your orthodontist at the end of your treatment.  Nowadays, especially the adults prefer ‘’lingula braces’’ because these braces attached behind the tooth (not visible).

Question: How  long will my  orthodontics  treatment  take?
Answer: The orthodontics treatment’s duration  varies from one patient to another.  For some patients it takes as short as 3 months but for some patients  it can take up to 24 months.

Question: After your treatment will I have the same problem again?
Answer: Life-long continuous changes happen in human body  Like each and  every part in our body, these changes occur  also in our tooth, chin and face systems. However, after successfully completed orthodontics treatment, the possibility of having the same kind of problem will be lower.  To keep  this possibility at the lowest level, your orthodontics will be using ‘reinforcement apparatus’.  After the treatment is fully completed, you will be regularly invited to our clinic for semi-annual and  annual check-up’s.

Question: İs it risky to have orthodontics treatment?
Answer: Orthodontics treatment will no cause risk unless rules are followed.  All the cavity treatments needs to be completed before the orthodontics treatment start.  After the beginnings sessions, the patient must brush theit teeh and keep their mouth hygiene at the highest level. Otherwise, when the braces take out the patient may come across with excessive  stains and cavities 

Question:  I heard that, in some cases, for treatment purposes tooth extraction may be required.  Are there any disadvantages of teeth reduction?
Answer: At first, patients and their parents does not prefer tooth extraction even if it is for treatment purposes. If permanent success is desired for orthodontics treatment ,
decision for tooth extraction must be made in cases where teeth can not be placed on the jawbone   Just think about a room full of 32 boxes tightly set together. If we take out 4 of those boxes from the room the remaining 28 tooth will be positioned orderly.  Thus, tooth extraction is done to have desired orderly look.

Question: Is Orthodontics treatment costly?
Answer: The cost associated Orthodontics treatment varies depending on the type of braces (aestethical or metal braces) choosed .  But, if you consider in average of 2 years long treatment and having very good looking teeth composition which lasts until the age of 70; frankly, it is not an expensive treatment.  When you decide on having Orthodontics treatment, convenient payment plan will surely be choosen for your budget in our clinic.

Implants

Question: What is the purpose of having implants?
Answer: Patients using dentures (being tootless for many years), commonly having trouble with their dentures because  they start moving and going up.  In order to increase denture stability , implants can be counted as  the best solution available.

Question: I am suing dentures  now.  Can I use them as soon as I have implants?
Answer: Yes, with a new  developed technology called MDI (Mini Dental Implant), within the same doctors visit, implants can be installed and  yet dentures can easily be  adapted to them for the patients permanent use..  

Question: Is it possible for me to have an implant?
Answer: Anyone having no systematical discomfort (after having radiological and clinical examanination) 
can have an implant if they have enough bone tissue available.

Question: Does it hurt?
Answer: Implant operations made under local anesthesia is no different from pulling out the teeth or mouth operations .  The patient will not feel any pain  during theoperation.  The  post operation period,  will also be comfortable if the patient pays enough attention to their mouth hygiene and regularly takes prescribed medication as directed by the doctor.

Question: Does implants fall off?
Answer: With the latest advances in implant Technologies, the sucess rates has increased to %95.  The  patients having successfull recovery periods had  their implants stayed in their mouth for years.

Question: Does  it have any harmfull effects to my health?
Answer: Implants does not have any negative effects to your body, yet it prevents bone deprivation (osteoclasis) in teethless areas.

Question: I am a cigarette smoker I like to know if smoking affects success of my implant treatment?
Answer: Clinical studies has clearly showes that smoking increases infection around implants and decreased bone integration with implants.  It is not commonly recommended to have implant treatment for excessive  cigarette smokers.
